International Air Show at Mihail Kogalniceanu

The Romanian International Air Show “RoIAS 2006” will be organized between July 29 and 30, 2006 at Mihail Kogalniceanu airport, Constanta County, occasioned by the celebration of the centenary of Traian Vuia’s fly.

The aviation event will be developed under the high patronage of the Presidency of Romania and is organized by the Ministry of National Defense through the Air Staff in cooperation with the Ministry of Administration and Interior and the Ministry of Transport, Constructions and Tourism.

“RoIAS 2006” is the most important event of this type organized in Romania in the last five years and more then 100 civil and military Romanian and foreign airplanes with about 1000 specialists will participate in. Till now, eight states confirmed the participation in this aviation show: Austria ( two PC 7 airplanes), Germany ( one F4 Phantom and one Tornado of the German Air Force and a Breguet Atlantic representing the German Navy), Greece ( one T6), Macedonia (one Mi24 helicopter and one Mi 17 helicopter), Holland ( one F 16), Serbia and Montenegro (two Galeb G 4 and one ORAO, representing the Serbian and Montenegro Air Force and one Galeb G2 of the Galeb Belgrade aero club), Spain ( one Mirage F1) and Sweden ( four JAS 39 Gripen). More, three formations of air acrobacy will participate in: TURKISH STARS from Turkey ( eight F5), FRECCE TRICOLORI from Italy ( ten MB 339) and PC 7 DEMO TEAM from Swiss (nine PC 7).
RomanianAir Staff will participate in RoIAS 2006 with 12 MiG 21 LanceR, 5 IAR 99 Soim, 4 L39 Albatros one C 130 Hercules, 5 IAK 52, 2 AN 26, 10 IAR 330 Socat and 4 IAR 316 Allouette.

The air show program will consist in individual and in formation evolutions, parashutism and static airplane exhibitions. During the event the aeronautic industry stands can be visited, too.

Traian Vuia used for the first time a plane with its own system of propulsion, take off and landing in his flight on Montesson plain, France in March 18, 1906.
