The Romanian Air Force participates with six MiG 21 LanceR and two IAR 330 helicopters from the 86th Fetesti Air Base and six MiG 21 LanceR from the 95th Bacau Air Base. The French Air Force participates in this exercise with five Mirage 2000D, four Mirage 2000N and three Mirage F1CT.
The main aim of this exercise is the increase of interoperability of the two Air Forces by the training of the personnel for the air missions using the specific NATO proceedings. They will fly in formations and mix crews and will perform day and night firings in Malina firing field, Galati County.
The training activities with the French partner occurred in 1998, during the “Volfac” exercise at Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base. The further editions of “Volfac” occurred in 1999 at Mihail Kogalniceanu and in France at Saint Dizier. In 2000 and 2001 there have been two exercises of common flight in Romania, at Mihail Kogalniceanu and in France at Saint Dizier, and Colmar. In 2003 there were two exercises in Timisoara and Colmar and a French Rocket Company, for the first time, had firings in Capu Midia shooting range. Another common flight exercise occurred in Colmar in 2004 and the first edition of “Chasseur Accompli” occurred last year at Mihail Kogalniceanu.
