Debates on the military rights and freedoms

A round table on “The military associations of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe members” will be held on October 30 and 31, at Marriott Hotel.
50 experts from about 20 European countries will take part in the event. Under the Romanian MoD patronage, the round table is organised by the European Organisation of the Military Associations (EUROMIL), the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights and the Geneva Center for the Democratic Control of the Armed Forces.
The main issues to be dealt with are: general frame of the human rights for the military personnel; military societies and associations - pros and cons; experience of the military associations in the OSCE members.
The conclusions of the round table will be used in drafting up a handbook on the rights and freedoms of the armed forces personnel.
EUROMIL was established in 1972 by military personnel from nine western countries and its aim was to promote a balance between military – common citizens rights and freedoms. At present, this organisation represents the interests of about 500,000 military from 22 countries, including East European countries.
