Romanian officers decorated by the Dutch Defense Ministry

The award ceremony of medals to three Romanian Army officers, participants in ISAF mission in Afghanistan in 2007, will occur at the Army Staff HQ in Bucharest, Monday, August 27, at 11 a.m. in the presence of Lieutenant General Ph.D. Teodor Frunzeti.

The medals have been awarded by the Defense Minister of Holland, Mr. Eimert van Middelkoop and will be handed by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Kingdom of Holland in Romania, His Excellency Jaap L. Werener and the defense attaché, Lieutenant Colonel Jan Korteweg.

The three awarded Romanian officers, Major Emil Bobocea, Captain Dorin Cucolas and Captain Marius Gabriel Virtej-Lemer were for six months in mission within the regional Command, South under the command of Major General Ton van Loon (Holland).

The commemorative medal for the peacekeeping forces was established through the Royal Decree on March 23, 2001 and can be granted to the Dutch or other nationality citizens who participated in peacekeeping missions in Dutch areas of operations, for at least 30 days, and proved to have a perfect behavior in all the situations during their mission.

The distinction is granted by the Defense Minister after the consultation of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Justice and Internals. It is the official distinction the Government recognizes.
