HMS YORK British destroyer will pay an unofficial visit in Constanta harbor, between October 22 and 25, 03. The visit is developed according to the plan of international relations of the Navy Staff and represents continuity in increasing the cooperation between the Navies of the two countries.
The ship commanded by Captain Commander Matt Harvey is a 42-type destroyer with a crew of 27 officers, 41foremen and NCOs, 148 sailors and 4 civilians. The destroyer has a system of ship-air missiles, a 114-mm system of artillery, two 30-mm artillery systems, four 20-mm artillery systems, two torpedo launching systems. The ship is 141.1 m in length, 14.9 m in width, 5.8 m in draught and 4.675 tones displacement.
On board also there are foreign officers on professional training.
The program of the visit consists in exchanges of experience on board of the British ship, receiving at the Navy Operational Command and local authorities, visits to different naval institutions. In the last day of the visit a PASSEX type exercise between the British HMS YORK and the Romanian MARASESTI will be organized. This exercise will contribute to the fulfillment of the partnership aims.
The next stop of the British ship will be Istanbul, Turkey.
