The Romanian defence minister said he considered that Mihail Kogălniceanu base became an important logistic hub and a transit center as a result of the excellent US-Romanian cooperation. "The Bilateral Strategic Partnership stands proof that Romania is fully committed as well as a reliable and trustworthy partner of the USA", Mircea Dușa added.
In turn, General Philip Breedlove appreciated the military effort made by Romania during NATO operations over the last years, when it proved to be an important partner by the side of US troops.
Mircea Dușa conveyed a message to General Breedlove to the effect that Romania endorses a firm allied commitment in Afghanistan post-2014 and supports the intention of the Alliance to improve training and exercises with a view to a better interaction with NATO partners.
Another topic of discussion was the security situation in Ukraine, when Minister Mircea Dușa said he considered that the USA contributes to the security of the eastern flank.
