Meeting with the Bulgarian Defence Minister
The Minister of National Defence, Mihnea Motoc, had a bilateral meeting with his Bulgarian counterpart, Nikolai Nankov Nencev, during NATO Defence Ministerial.
The talks focused on the strategic topics to be discussed during the Warsaw Summit and the common propositions meant to ensure a forward allied position at the Black Sea. The two ministers expressed their satisfaction for how the strategic importance of the region is mirrored by draft documents to be adopted at the ministerial.
The two officials agreed on speeding up the establishment and rendering operational of the multinational brigade and the allied command and control structures in Romania and Bulgaria in order to contribute to the consolidation of the allied deterrance and defence posture.
The Romanian defence minister pointed out the need to intensify bilateral consultations in the near future, in order to establish specific coordinates for the development of an enhanced regional cooperation package among the Black Sea riverine states, that would be the foundation of an adapted presence of NATO forces in the region.
