NATO Assistant Secretary General for Defence Investment Camille Grand visited the 99th Military Base Deveselu. This is part of the information visit in Romania by NATO Defence Policy and Planning Committee - DPPC (MD) over March 27 to 29.
During their visit to Deveselu base, that hosts the Aegis Ashore system, NATO Committee delegation appreciated the Romanian efforts to commission the defence facility, also for the support given to the United States, that resulted in a ballistic-missile defence system at the disposal of the Alliance.
Camille Grand highlighted the importance of the capability as a landmark in the trans-Atlantic connection and an excellent example provided by NATO in terms of adapting to the new challenges. The delegation stated once more the defensive nature of the system hosted by Romania that is meant to counter threats posed by ballistic missiles from outside the Euro-Atlantic region.
