The Conference of Air chiefs from the Partnership for Peace and Mediterranean Dialogue members was organized between December 6 and 9, 04 by the Supreme Headquarter of the Allied Forces in Europe (SHAPE) through the Air Component Headquarter from Izmir, Turkey and with the support of the Romanian Air Staff.

In this Conference participated the Air Forces commanders from Belarus, Bulgaria, Croatia, Georgia, Jordan and Romania, commanders of the command and control operational structures, specialists from the Operations Supreme Allied Headquarter, NATO International Staff, Air Component Headquarter from Izmir and experts from the Partnership for Peace participating states.

The debates were mainly focused on the air policy of the new NATO members, the exchange of information on the air situation, the logistic support and the military-civil relations for the development of the military operations. They also stressed on the structure of the NATO new commands and analyzed the NRF concept and the terrorist threats.

Lieutenant General Carlos Victoria, deputy commander of the Air Component from Izmir referring on the importance of this event, stated: “ It was more then a simple meeting, it was a very good opportunity to build a friendly relationship of trust and transparency based on mutual understanding”.
