Approximately 120 Romanian troops will participate in the “COMBINED ENDEAVOR” communications and informatics systems interoperability exercise, organized by the United States Europe Command (USEUCOM), in May 13th to 26th.

More than 1,200 participants from 43 NATO member and Partner nations, as well as structures from NATO and the South East European Brigade (SEEBRIG) will be engaged in this exercise. They will be deployed in Lager Aullenbach, Germany, and at the Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base, near Constantza, Romania. They will test the interoperability level of command, control, communications and information systems, which are crucial for the success of humanitarian, peacekeeping or disaster relief missions.

Major General Dr. Dumitru Cristea, Chief of Communications and Informatics Directorate in the Romanian General Staff, will be present both in Mihail Kogalniceanu and in Lager Aullenbach, on “Distinguished Visitors’ Days.”

In Romania, the activities will be coordinated by the USEUCOM and Romanian General Staff communications and informatics structures (J6).

At the Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base, 230 military personnel from seven NATO member and Partner countries (Canada, France, Georgia, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Republic of Moldova, Romania and the United States of America), will be deployed together with the South East European Multinational Brigade, whose command is in Constantza.

Communications experts will conduct more than 1,400 interoperability tests, the major ones concerning voice and data alternative transmission, video-teleconference, Internet telephone communication, radio networks and IT.

Further information on this exercise can be obtained from the and sites, and from Major Daniel Anghel, in the Press Information Center at the “Mihail Kogalniceanu” Air Base, throughout the duration of the exercise.
