The Annual Meeting of the Navy Commanders in the Black Sea region and the Committee of the Navy Commanders participating in the Black Sea Naval Forces Cooperation – BLACKSEAFOR, will take place on May 17-18, in Constantza. Naval Forces commanders from Bulgaria, Georgia, Romania, Turkey, Ukraine and the Commander of the Russian Federation Fleet in the Black Sea will participate in these activities.
Topics to be tackled during the meetings will include security and stability in the Black Sea region, ways to enhance cooperation among the naval forces, as well as asymmetrical threats and their implications in the naval area.
Participants will assess the results of the activities accomplished so far, and will approve the BLACKSEAFOR activity plan for 2005-2006 and for the following five years, according to the provisions of the initial agreement and of the existing management documents.
Navy commanders from Greece and Italy and representatives of the Allied Naval Command in Naples have been invited to attend the meetings, together with the foreign defence attaches in Romania.
The media interested in attending the opening sessions are expected Tuesday, May 17th, at 08:30 am and at 12:00 am for press statements, at the “YAKI” Hotel in Mamaia sea resort.
