Two firing fields build by Romanian Engineers for the Iraqi armed forces

The Romanian Engineering Detachment from “Irak V” had a ceremony December 12, 2005 near Ad Diwaniyah for the opening of the two firing-fields for the Iraqi armed forces for light infantry armament firings.

The Platoon in charge with this project consisted in 35 engineers commanded by Lieutenant Vlad Vasile. For six weeks the soldiers arranged and leveled the terrain on 6200 square meters, made protective earthwork walls, firings slots and posts of observation. During the mission, the security of the area was ensured by Polish and Slovak soldiers.

Major General Piotr Czerwinski, MND CS commander during the ceremony congratulated the Romanian soldiers and thanked them for the way they ended the mission a month earlier then it was planned. General Othman Ali Ferhood, the Iraqi 8th Division commander, the beneficiary of these firing fields, evaluated in person the quality of works and was satisfied by the activity the Romanian Engineers had.

General Czerwinski handled Lieutenant Vlad Vasile a diploma with MND CS signs and the Polish and Iraqi officials had firings with the pistol in one of the firing fields build by the Romanians.
