The foundation of this institution in the Romanian Army dates back to April 1st 1910 when, according to the Royal Decree no.1217, signed by king Carol I, was created the function of Army inspector within War Department (Ministry of War ) . According to this document, the first Army inspector was FERDINAND I, the prince successor of the Romanian throne, division general, commander of Army II Corps and inspector of cavalry.
Main task is systemic evaluation of the politics, processes, programs, structures and resources, in order to identify state and evolution of the planned parameters at the level of Ministry of National Defense, as well as control / checkup / investigation of the specific problems ordered by the minister of national defense.
Control and inspection corps execute: inspections, controls, investigations, checkups, informings, documentations.
The fields of activity:
Systemic evaluation of the politics, processes, programs, structures and resources allocated proper to approved plan;
Identification of the data and information, regarding the state of the military organism, in the evaluated domains of activities and promoting correction solutions / proposals to the minister of defense, in support of grounding decisional cycle;
The management of the evaluation activities (inspections, controls) inside the military organism;
Investigation/checkup, at the order of the minister of national defense, of some problems necessary for his information or regarding intimations/petitions addressed for solving;
Unitary coordination of the politics and programs for environmental and labor protection, technical surveillance and legal metrology at the level of the military organism.
