Minister Atanasiu in visit in Baku

Romania is in favor of bringing the states from the South of Caucasus closer to the European and Euro-Atlantic institutions stated the minister of National Defense, Teodor Atanasiu, in Baku, Azerbaidzan during the meeting with the minister of Defense, Safar Abiyev.

The two ministers signed a series of agreements on technical-military cooperation, military education and protection of information. The visit , the talks and the documents we already signed represent the stage of our military relations stated Teodor Atansiu.

During the dialogue in Baku they approached the aspects on the transformation the two armed forces are going on within the new risks and challenges towards security, reform of military institutions, participation in international missions and the possible cooperation in technical-military area.

This occasion, I am stressing once again the offer of support and assistance in reform of the defense sector and we are open for identifying the new cooperation areas mentioned the Romanian minister of National Defense.

The Romanian delegation was received by the President of Azerbaidzan, Ilham Aliyev, who stressed on the importance to strengthen the cooperation between the two states, having in view the strategic rapport between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea including the corridors of transport of the energetic resources.

Minister of National Defense also met the president of the Parliament, the Prime Minister and the deputy minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaidzan.
