A contract employee military from the 280th Infantry Battalion deployed in Camp Mittica, Iraq, fired in his head. The accident happened today, March 14, around 14.30 hours. The soldier was alone in his tent, resting after a mission.

After the emergency medical assistance, the military was transported to the Italian Brigade hospital, Romanians being subordinated to this Brigade. According to the medical personnel, the soldier is in coma with stabilized vital functions.

A commission appointed by the commander of the Battalion is investigating the circumstances of the accident.
Details on the identity of the military will be communicated after the announcement of his family.
