French frigate in visit in Constanta harbor

The French frigate JEAN BART is in visit between April 4 and 8, 2006 in Constanta harbor.

The program consists in receiving at the Navy Operational Command, and by the local public authorities and visits to different Romanian Navy institutions, lay of wreaths at the Monument of the WW I French Heroes (Central Graveyard) and cultural and sport activities in Constanta and the sea-side resorts.

The French frigate visit in Constanta harbor will end by a type PASSEX exercise in common with the Romanian frigates REGELE FERDINAND and REGINA MARIA.



A press conference on the French frigate board will occur Tuesday, April 4, at 14.30 hours.

JEAN BART frigate, commanded by Commander Pascal Ausseur, is the OLIVER HAZARD PERRY class and a crew consisting in 236 soldiers and 29 officers. Technical characteristics: long- 139 m; width 15 m draught 6.5m; displacement 4000 tdw.
REGINA MARIA and REGELE FERDINAND frigates, are commanded by Commanders Costel Tataru and Sorin Learsschi. Technical characteristics: displacement 4900 tdw; long 148.2m; width 14.75m; maximum speed 30 knots; maximum draught 4.6m; number of bridges 7; autonomy 4500 maritime miles.
