Forces and means of the Ministry of National Defense, at the local and central authorities request Sunday, April 23,2006 made 17 interventions in Fetesti( Ialomita County), Rast, Negoi, Bistret, Ostroveni, Carna and Bechet (Dolj County), Frecatei, Tacau and Noianu-Varsatura (Braila County).

1500 soldiers on three shifts with about 73 technical means installed 85 military tents and fed more then 1400 affected people and consolidated and rise dykes on 8000 meters in total length.

They set at the affected people disposal 800 mattresses, and 2 mobile sanitary units, and the IAR 330 helicopters transported 26 tons of sacks with sand for plugging the breaches and performed the reconnaissance missions.

Sunday night 400 soldiers joined the 1500 soldiers already acting. Now the forces of the Ministry of National Defense act for the break of the military camps for the affected people, evacuation of population, consolidation of dykes and transportation of the first necessity materials.

General Staff and services of the Romanian armed forces organized the intervention according to the instructions approved by the minister of National Defense, Teodor Atansiu in order to act in a short time at the authorities request with the necessary forces and means. All the military units in the affected regions are ready to intervene at order.

The Operational Center for Military Leading from the General Staff is permanently over watching the situation and coordinates the actions for being prepared in cooperation with the General Inspectorate for Emergency Cases to develop operations for helping the population.
