Celebration of the Day of the Romanian Army

The Saint Gheorghe Day, (April 23) is inscribed in the military calendar as the Day of the Army, the service comprising about 2/3 of the Romanian armed forces personnel.

Manifestations dedicated to this event will occur Friday, April 28 in the Army's garrisons and military units and military and political personalities, reserve and retreat military personnel, veterans and young people interested in military career are invited to participate in.

In Bucharest the activities will start with the ceremony of lay of wreath at the Monument of Infantry (at 09.00 hours in Kisseleff Parc), the Monument of Artillery ( at 10.00 hours at the cross of Bd. Eroilor and Bd. Eroilor Sanitary) and the Monument of the Engineering Troops ( at 10.00 hours at the cross of Bd. Iuliu Maniu and Bd. Geniului).

Self defense demonstrative exercises, parachute of troops, shows of military equipment and armament the Army is endowed, activities of public information on military career and concerts of fanfare will occur in Izvor Parc between 10.30 and 12.00 hours.

Films on the activities the Army perform, training demonstrative exercises with carbine, information-recruitment activity and concerts of the military bands will occur between 11.00 and 12.30 hours at the National Military Cercle (str. Constantin Mille, nr.1, sector 1) and near the Army Staff HQ (Complex Orizont). In the same period of time a Detachment from the 30th Guard and Protocol Regiment Mihai Viteazu will parade on Bd Vasile Milea, Bd Drumul Taberei, Complexul Favorit, Bd. Drumul Taberei, Army HQ.

The soldiers of the 30th Guard and Protocol Regiment will retreat with torches between 21.00 and 22.00 hours on the itinerary: Army HQ, str. Razoare, sos Panduri, Bd. Cotroceni, Bd. Iuliu Maniu, Bd. Vasile Milea.

Lays of wreaths, demonstrative exercises, exhibitions and competitions dedicated to the Day of the Romanian Army will occur in Focsani, Cluj, Iasi, Bistrita, Brasov, Pitesti and Sibiu, too.


The military training will be organized Thursday, April 27, between 10.00 and 12.30 hours in Izvor Parc. This occasion, about 40 paratroopers will participate in parachuting and four military airplanes will fly over the capital.
