The Romanian soldier killed in Iraq was Corporal Bogdan Hancu, 28, employed in a military unit in Iasi since 2003. Within his Military Police Company he participated in Antica Babilonia operation in Iraq since January 2006.

Bogdan Hancu was in an Italian-Romanian patrol in mission of monitoring and training of the Iraqi police. The patrol was attacked around 08.00 hours and after the explosion of a booby trap few soldiers lost their lives, among them the Romanian and few other soldiers were wounded.

The event is inquired by an Italian-Romanian commission.

The Military Police Company comprising100 soldiers is acting in Mittica Camp near An Nassyria.
