Romanian Navy Restructure

As a result of the Romanian Armed Forces Strategy of Transformation implementation starting May 1, 2006 the Navy Operational Command Constanta becomes the Flotilla Command and the Flotilla of Frigates is established since the same date.

The establish of the Flotilla of Frigates is responding to the necessity of the Romanian Navy alignment to the Navies of the North Atlantic Alliance members. The Command main missions will consist in leading of naval and planning actions, leading and evaluation of training at component structure level. The Flotilla Command will act in Strada Remus Opreanu, nr. 13, Constanta.

The Flotilla of Frigates as part of the Flotilla will comprise the ships: Marasesti, Regele Ferdinand and Regina Maria, Constanta School and Logistic Support ship and the Group of Helicopters. The Flotilla of Frigates will act in Constanta Military Bay.

The Strategy of Transformation of the Romanian Armed Forces was adopted by the Supreme Council of Defense of the Country in February 13, 2006. The Document is also specifying the Armed Forces endowment with important systems and equipment for 2006-25 and the frame plan for the continuation of the Armed Forces process of restructure and modernization in 2006.
