Teodor Atanasiu, Minister of National Defense will pay official visits between May 3 and 5, 2006 in Lithuania and Latvia invited by his counterparts Gediminas Kikilas and Atis Slakteris.

In Lithuania the Minister will meet with representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Committee of Foreign Affairs of the Vilnius Parliament and will visit the Lithuanian Military Academy. In Latvia, Minister Atanasiu will be received by the President Vaira Vike-Freiberga and the Prime Minister Aigars Kalvitis and will meet the president of the Committee of Defense and Foreign Affairs of the Latvian Parliament and with the National Armed Forces commander.

The official talks will be focused on the European Policy of Security and Defense, the security in the enlarged region of Black Sea, the participation in NATO operations and the Romanian military bilateral cooperation with the two states.
