Sorin Encutescu, State Secretary and chief of Department for Parliament Liaison, Legislative Harmonization and Public Relations will participate June 27, 03 in Oberammergau, Germany to the transfer of authority and to the ceremony of transfer of NATO (SHAPE) command and celebration of 50 years of existence of NATO School in Oberammergau.
Historically dated since 1953, the School in 1975 was named having the same character as now. The courses are permanently updated for reflecting the most recent modifications within NATO and the European Allied Headquarters. The School developed from two courses in 1953 to 64 in 2003. Now, the courses cover important issues: multinational forces, environment protection and electronic warfare, psychological operations, logistic operations, mobilization of armed forces, mass destruction weapons, peacekeeping missions and crisis management.
More than 450 Romanian officers and 30 civilians participated to NATO School courses since 1991 till 2003.
Among the Romanian personalities that delivered lectures to the students in Oberammergau are Ioan Mircea Pascu, minister of National Defense, Bogdan Mazuru, ambassador of Permanent Mission of Romania in Brussels and Mihai Razvan Ungureanu, ex State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
