The soldiers from the 280th Infantry Battalion participating in Antica Babilonia operation in Iraq discovered a depot of ammunition during a reconnaissance mission Tuesday, May 30, 2006 in their area of responsibility.

The depot placed at 30 km South-East of An Nasiriyah, contained about 350 artillery charges, caliber 60 and 155 mm.

After marking and securing the area, the Romanian soldiers asked the support of the specialized teams from Sassari Italian Brigade. The Italian mine clearing team established the state of operation of the ammunition and destroyed it in safety conditions.

The 280th Infantry Battalion Focsani participates between January and July 2006 in the effort of stabilization and reconstruction of Iraq within the Multinational Force.
