Minister of Defense of the Republic of Portugal, Luis Filipe Marques Amado heading a military delegation will pay an official visit in Romania between June 6 and 7, 2006 invited by his Romanian counterpart Teodor Atanasiu.

The two officials will have talks on the evolution of the European Policy of Security and Defense, aspects on the Mediterranean Dialogue within NATO Partnership and the present situation in the Balkans. They will also approach the issues on the process of transformation of the Alliance, the situation in the theaters of operations in Iraq and Afghanistan and the bilateral military cooperation.

The Portuguese minister of Defense will be received by the Presidential Adviser on Security, Sergiu Medar and the President of Commission for Defense, Public Order and National Security of the Chamber of Deputies, Mihai Stanisoara.

The two ministers of Defense will have press statements Tuesday, June 6, 2006 at 10.50 hours at the MoND HQ .
