State Secretary and chief of Department for Euro-Atlantic Integration and Defense Policy, Ion Mircea Plangu, paid an official visit in the Kingdom of Spain between June 12 and 15, 2006.

State Secretary Plangu was received by Admiral Francisco Torrente Sanchez, General Secretary for Defense Policy in the Ministry of Defense.
During the official talks, the two dignitaries debated mutual interest issues on the European Policy of Security and Defense, the EU-NATO relationship and few aspects on the Mediterranean Dialogue.

The program also comprised a visit to the Joint Operational Command and talks on the participation of the Spanish and Romanian armed forces in the theaters of operations in the Balkans, Afghanistan and Africa.

Mister Ion Mircea Plangu also met General Felix Sanz Roldan, chief of General Staff of Defense. During the meeting he presented the recent reform within the Spanish armed forces.

State Secretary Plangu had a meeting with Lieutenant General Pedro Pitarch Bartolome, commander of the Ground Forces.
