A Romanian soldier was killed while other four were wounded following an incident that occurred Tuesday morning, June 20, 2006, around 0300hrs, Romanian time, in Afghanistan.

The soldiers onboard a reconnaissance armoured personnel carrier were returning to the base in Kandahar at the end of a patrol mission in the south of the country.

At about 20 km away from the base, the first of a four- carrier convoy, crossed over an improvised explosive device. As a consequence of the explosion, a soldier was killed while four others were wounded. The injured ones were taken to the hospital inside the base.
