A military delegation headed by Mr. Mohammad Hamayon Fawzi, Deputy Minister of Defense for Training and Personnel from the Ministry of Defense of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan visits Romania between June 21 and 23, 2006, invited by the State Secretary and Chief of Department for Euro-Atlantic Integration and Defense Policy, Ion Mircea Plangu.

Topics of the official talks between State Secretary Ion Mircea Plangu and the Afghani official focused on the ways and directions of support that the Romanian Armed Forces can grant in the process of reform for the Afghani security sector in general, and the Afghani national Armed Forces, in particular. The Afghani side also asked for support in education and training.

State Secretary Plangu suggested the rapid signing of an agreement between the two Ministries representing the legal framework for the fulfillment of the measures in these areas of interest.

Deputy Minister Fawzi was also received by the Minister of National Defense, Teodor Atanasiu, by the State Secretary and chief of Department for Armament, Ion Ion and by the Chief of the Romanian General Staff, General Eugen Badalan.
