The Ministry of National Defense in cooperation with the Prefecture and the General Town Hall of Bucharest organize a public ceremony Monday, June 16, 2006 at 9.30 a. m. in Piata Tricolorului, in front of the National Military Cercle, for the celebration of the Day of the National Flag.

This occasion, the National Flag will be blessed and hoisted in Piata (square) and the reunited chorus of the 30th Guard Regiment and the Romanian Gendarmerie will sing the National Hymn together with the military bands.

Representatives of civilian, military and religious institutions, military attaches accredited in Bucharest, veterans, military in reserve and retreat will participate in this event. All the persons wishing to express their feeling of respect to one of the most important national symbols are invited to participate in this event.

Sub-units from the Ministry of National Defense will participate in the public ceremonies of hoist of the Flag of Romania and the military bands will have concerts in parks and public places of historical importance, in other garrisons, all over the country, at request of the local public administration.

The Day of the National Flag was proclaimed by Law no. 96/1998 and is celebrated in June 26, every year.
