Romanian Military Divers Destroyed a Maritime Mine from the Second World War

A team of EOD military divers destroyed today, around 18.00 hours, a maritime mine from the Second World War discovered June 25 in the morning, during a planned activity within the COOPERATIVE MAKO 06 exercise, developed in the Romanian territorial waters and the Black Sea international waters.

The mine, a German type, was 1.10 m in diameter and was located at a depth of 30 m, about 7 km in the offing where it was destroyed.

The explosive device was discovered by the French mine hunter Orion, participant in the exercise, and the area was marked by the team of the Romanian Navy Center of Divers. The authorities of the bay took all the measures for countering all the possible risks for navigation.
