Celebration of 90 years since the establishment of the 8th Joint Artillery Brigade in Focsani

90 years since the establishment of the 8th Joint Artillery Brigade Alexandru Ioan Cuza will be celebrated Saturday, July 1, 2006 at 10 a.m. in Focsani (Bulevardul Bucuresti, nr 4-6).

A military and religious ceremony, the granting of the flags with honorific nominations and heraldic signs of the sub-ordinate units and the inauguration of the monument for Alexandru Ioan Cuza will occur the same day.

The High Decree no. 2436/ June 27, 1916 established in the garrison of Bucharest, starting July 1, 1916, the Command named the 2nd Heavy Artillery Brigade. In time, the Brigade was transformed and re-deployed in Bistrita, Slobazia, Ploiesti and Focsani garrisons.

The 8th Joint Artillery Brigade received its present name in December 1, 2001 and now the units from Focsani, Barlad and Ploiesti are in its subordination.
