The Romanian Air Force Detachment return ceremony occurring Thursday, August 3, 2006 at 9 p.m. on Otopeni Military Airport is occasioned by the end of the mission in Afghanistan where they had the command of Kabul International Airport.

For four months, the 39 Romanian military had key positions in the Airport structures and fulfilled different types of missions, such as : air traffic control, leading of air operations, security of flight, logistic support and ensure of communications. Between April 1 and July 31, 2006 about 60,000 of people were in transit in Kabul Airport and more than 17,000 takes-off and landings have been registered with a transport of 16,500 tons of materials.
