The Chief of Norwegian Army Staff visits Romania

Major General Robert Mood, Chief of Norwegian Army Staff, paid an official visit to Romania between 17 to 19 October, at the invitation of Lieutenant General Dr. Sorin Ioan, Chief of Romanian Army Staff.

The process of restructuring and modernising the Romanian Army was impressive. You went a long way ahead in a very short period of time, said Major General Robert Moore.

Lieutenant General Sorin Ioan highlighted the good relationship existing between the Norwegian and the Romanian Armies and pointed out that the processes to transform the two Armies have very similar elements.

He also stated that Together, we have identified aspects of common interest that may contribute to a strengthened bilateral cooperation.

The Norwegian delegation's agenda included meetings with State Secretary Corneliu Dobritoiu, Chief of Department for Defence Policy and Planning, and with Lieutenant General Florian Pinta, Deputy Chief of the General Staff, and a visit to one battalion from the 2nd Mountain Brigade Sarmizegetusa. General Mood discussed with the troops that participated in international missions in the Iraq and Kosovo theatres of operations.
