Mountain Troops Day will be celebrated on Friday, November 3, 2006, in Brasov and Targu-Neamt. The event will be attended by officials of the Defence Ministry.


The ceremony in Brasov, attended by the defence minister, Sorin Frunzaverde, the chief of the General Staff, Vice Admiral Gheorghe Marin, will begin at 10.00 hrs with a religious ceremony at the Triptych of the 2nd Sarmisegetuza Mountain Brigade. Later, a military ceremony will be organized downtown, at the foot of Tampa, which will end with a military parade of the mountain troops units. At 18.00 hrs, the troops will start a torch procession on their way back to the brigade command.


The chief of the Army Staff, General-Lieutenant Sorin Ioan will participate in a Te Deum and a wreath laying ceremony that will be celebrated at the Mountain Troops Memorial in Targu-Neamt at 11.hrs. The activities will be continued in a square downtown, with a military parade of the the 61st General Virgil Badulescu Mountain Troops Brigade taking place at 12.30hrs, followed by a folk festival.
