Mine sweeper Locotenent Dimitrie Nicolescu will attend a naval exercise, TURKISH MINEX 06, in the Aegean Sea, together with six ships of the Standing NRF Mine Countermeasure Group 2 (SNMCM-2) from 6 to 17 November.

TURKISH MINEX 06 will involve mine sweeping, communications, en route restocking and formation deployment.

The Romanian minesweeper Lt. Dimitrie Nicolescu is commanded by Lt Commodore Ion Tatarici and manned with 70 seamen and a team of divers. The ship has a displacement of 800 tonnes, is 60.8 m long, 8.5m wide and an average draft of 3.18m. It is equipped with mechanical, magnetic and acoustic sweepers as well as reactive bomb launchers.
