Soimii Carpatilor leaving in mission again

Minister of Defense, Sorin Frunzaverde and the Chief of the General Staff, Admiral Gheorghe Marin participated today, December 11, 06 in Bistrita in the ceremony occurred for the 812th Infantry Battalion Soimii Carpatilor leaving in ISAF mission in Afghanistan.

You will have a complex mission in Qalat where your Battalion will be deployed, but I am sure you will act as pros, fulfilling your missions and you will show the good character characterizing the Romanian military. I wish you to have a safety trip and return well at home! Let God help you, the God that, I hope, will be Romanian, this time, too stated Minister Sorin Frunzaverde to the Soimii Carpatilor.

Soimii Carpatilor will receive the missions of the 2nd Infantry Battalion Calugareni in mission in ISAF operations since July 2006. They will fulfill the missions of support of the Afghani armed forces and police, search and patrol and humanitarian assistance. They will also support the implementation of the Plan of Peace initiated by the Afghani Government and the achievement of the projects of development initiated by Zabul Provincial Reconstruction Team.

The 812th Infantry Battalion participated in international exercises and missions such as: Angola (UNAVEM III, in 1996-97; MONUA, in 1998-99) and Kosovo (BELUROKOS 8, 9 and 10, in 2001-02).

Between December 2002 and July 2003 the Battalion participated in ENDURING FREEDOM in Afghanistan and between July 2004 and February 2005 in ANTICA BABILONIA in Iraq.
