Colonel magistrate Gheorghe Cosneanu is the chief of the Directorate Prevention and Investigation of Corruption and Frauds, the new established structure within the Ministry of Defense.

Colonel Cosneanu was, till December 2006, the first military public prosecutor in Timisoara Military Prosecutor's Office and he was transferred at the Ministry of Defense with the approval of the Section of Public Prosecutor of the Superior Council of Magistrature.

Gheorghe Cosneanu is born in November 11, 1957 in Busteni, Prahova County, is married and has a daughter. He graduated the School of Law (Cluj-Napoca, 1981) and he is Doctor of Law (2005). Colonel Cosneanu graduated the courses of specialization in penal law and published different papers on penal law and history of the military justice.
