Commander of the Multinational Division South East, Iraq in visit to the Dragonii Transilvani

Today, January 9, Major General Richard Shirreff wanted at the end of his mandate as commander of the Multinational Division South East, Iraq to tell farewell to the Romanian military from the 811th Infantry Battalion Dragonii Transilvani deployed in Camp Dracula in Tallil.

I always knew the Romanian Battalion offers to the British Division the security necessary in the North/West flank. I thank you for the way you knew to do your job and for that, no matter how hard it was, you the Romanians gave all the support stated General Shirreff evoking the support recently granted to the British forces by a Romanian rapid interventions sub-unit.

The Battalion commander, Lieutenant Colonel Tudorel Dragonici informed General Shirreff on the missions performed in the area of responsibility during the last events in Iraq.

The British General visited the Dragonii Transilvani Camp and he was impressed by the effort made with the logistic support of their US partners for the re-arrangement of the camp in such a short period of time after the Italian Brigade leave.

The guests had lunch together with the Romanian military and expressed their wish to meet them again at their home, too in the centre of Transilvania.
