Minister of Defense, Sorin Frunzaverde will participate Thursday, February 1, in the National Prayer Breakfast annually occurring since 1952 and hosted by the President of the United States of America.

Minister Sorin Frunzaverde and the Chief of the Romanian General Staff, Admiral Gheorghe Marin will be between January 30 and February 3 in an working visit in the United States of America.

They will have official meetings with the US Secretary of Defense, Gordon England, the Under-Secretary of State for Political Affairs, Nicholas Burns, the President of the Joint Committee of Chiefs of General Staffs, General Peter Pace, the President of the Senatorial Commission for the Armed Forces, Senator Carl Levin and the President of the Sub-commission of the House of Representatives for the Armed Forces, Congressman Solomon Ortiz.

In Washington, the agenda of talks between Minister Sorin Frunzaverde and Admiral Gheorghe Marin and the US officials will be focused on the strengthen of the strategic partnership between Romania and the US, the regional security and stability in the Western Balkans, the Black Sea region and the Middle East and the participation of the Romanian military in operations in Iraq and Afghanistan and the presence of the US troops on the Romanian territory.
