The ceremony of return home of the military participants for the last six months in ISAF IX mission in Afghanistan will occur Friday, February 2 at 11 a.m. at the 2nd Infantry Battalion Calugareni HQ in the presence of the representatives of the Ministry of Defense.

The 2nd Infantry Battalion Calugareni contributed in the maintenance of an environment of security and stability in Zabul Province in the South East of Afghanistan in about 1,350 missions. They had missions of patrol, reconnaissance and escort, guard and security of the area of deployment, humanitarian and medical assistance actions. The Romanian soldiers also had the mission of support of the Afghani national forces of security, army and police.

The military of the 2nd Infantry Battalion had been decorated at the end of their mission with NATO-ISAF Medal for the missions of peace and freedom support and four of them received the national medals: Virtutea Militara and Barbatie si Credinta, with signs of war.
