Minister of Defense, Sorin Frunzaverde in visit in the United States of America was invited Thursday, February 1, to participate in the National Prayer Breakfast, annually organized since 1952 and hosted by the President of the United States.

Wednesday, January 31, Minister Sorin Frunzaverde together with the Chief of the Romanian General Staff, Admiral Gheorghe Marin met in Washington the deputy advisor of the US President for national security, J.D. Crouch, and the members of the US Legislative: Senator Carl Levin, President of the Senatorial Commission for the Armed Forces, Congressman Solomon Ortiz, President of the Sub-commission of Representatives for the Armed Forces, Congressmen Frank Wolf, Christopher Smith, John Warner and John McCain.

During the talks, they approached the issues of bilateral military cooperation, including the presence of US troops in the facilities set at disposal on the Romanian territory, the regional security and stability in the Western Balkans, the Black Sea region and the Middle East. They also had talks on NATO EU relationship and Romania's participation in the operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The US representatives unanimously and positively appreciated our contribution in the fight against terrorism in all the theaters of operations where the Romanian military act, their professionalism and the way Romania observes the engagements assumed towards our allies and partners.
