High military officials in visit to the 495th Infantry Battalion

Deputy commander of the Multinational Corps Iraq, the Canadian Major General Peter Devlin and the deputy of chief of Staff of the Multinational Force for the Coalition Operations, Brigade General Dan Ghica Radu visited today, March 1, the 495th Infantry Battalion Capitan Stefan Soverth deployed in Camp Dracula. In the first part of the visit, the two officials participated in a briefing with the Battalion commander, Lieutenant Colonel George Constantin who presented the organization, endowment and missions of his military.

The visit continued with the presentation of the equipment, the individual armament and the amphibious armored carriers of the Romanian military from Bucharest.

At the end of the visit, General Devlin congratulated the Romanian military for the way they made and developed a model, worth to be followed, of relations with the local population in Dhi Qar province.


• Major General Peter Devlin covered all the military hierarchical stages, from the platoon commander up to commander of the Mechanized Brigade within the Canadian Army, starting 1978. The Canadian General fulfilled different command positions in different countries such as Cyprus, Serbia and Bosnia. Between 2003 and 2004 he commanded the Kabul Multinational Brigade in Afghanistan. He graduated the West University in Ontario, specialization in Economy and is master in Strategic Studies.
• Brigade General Dan Ghica Radu graduated the Military School Nicolae Balcescu, Infantry, in 1977 and the Academy of High Military Studies, Joint Forces. He fulfilled different positions of command up to the level of command of the Army Command. The Romanian General is master in Political and Administrative Studies and trainer for a doctor's master in Military Sciences.
