Minister Sorin Frunzaverde participated in the Informal Reunion of Ministers of Defense from the European Union member states


Minister of Defense, Sorin Frunzaverde participated in the Informal Reunion of Ministers of Defense from the European Union member states occurred in Wiesbaden, Germany between March 1 and 2, 2007.

The Wiesbaden Ministerial Reunion is the first at this level Romania is participating as the European Union member state.

Minister Sorin Frunzaverde expressed his hope for the efforts of the EU German presidency for the Policy of European Security and Defense will be successful and underlined that, Romania is aware of its new EU member quality and its new responsibility, being ready to play an active role within PESA.

During the talks on the operation under the EU command in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Minister Frunzaverde stated that Romania will continue to maintain an active presence within ALTHEA operation being in favor of the continuation of the military presence and the EU substantial political engagement in Bosnia-Herzegovina.

As regarding the situation in Kosovo, the Romanian Minister of Defense underlined the fact that a negotiated solution for the future status of this province must be accepted and must be based on the two parts support. Sorin Frunzaverde stressed on the fact that the EU future presence in Kosovo must be based on the expertise gained in this region and the positions of all the implied actors.
