Anniversary at the 47th Communications and Informatics Battalion General Nicolae Perescu

Friday, March 30, starting 11:00 hours, the Combat Colors of the 47th Communications and Informatics Battalion General Nicolae Petrescu from Buzau will be decorated with Ordinul Virtutea Militara (Military Virtue Order) in rank of Knight with military signs. The festivity will occasion a military and religious ceremony organized for the celebration of 75 years since the establishment of the 3rd Transmissions Regiment whose traditions are continued by the 47th Communications and Informatics Battalion.

Guests for this event are the representatives of the civilian and military authorities, the delegates of the public institutions and military in reserve.

The program of the day also consist in a show of the equipment the unit is endowed with.


The 3rd Transmissions Regiment, commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Tiberiu Nicolae Petrescu, was established on April 1, 1932 by the grouping of three Transmission Battalions from the 5th, the 6th and the 7th Pioneer Regiments.
During the armed forces restructure, starting May 1, 2006 the 47th Transmissions Regiment General Nicolae Petrescu was transformed in the 47th Communications and Informatics Battalion with the same honorific nomination, General Nicolae Petrescu.
Today, the Unit's main mission is to ensure the operative connections with all the Romanian units and sub-units subordinated to the 2nd Joint Operational Command acting in the international missions in the theaters of operations (Iraq, Afghanistan, the Western Balkans).
The 47th Communications and Informatics Battalion General Nicolae Petrescu had special results during the exercises it was engaged: CETATEA 2006, CERTEX 2006, VULTURUL 2006 and ROMEX 2006.
