Minister of Defense visited the Romanian soldiers in Iraq


Minister of Defense, Teodor Melescanu, and the Chief of the General Staff, Admiral Gheorghe Marin had today, April 9, a visit of information in the theater of operations in Iraq. The Chief of the Army Staff, Lieutenant General Teodor Frunzeti, the Chief of the Air Force, Lieutenant General Constantin Croitoru and the commander of the 2nd Joint Operational Command, Lieutenant General Florian Pinta were the members of this delegation, too.

After the arrival on Tallil airport, the Romanian military delegation went for Camp Dracula for the visit to the 495th Infantery Battalion deployed in Iraq since February, this year.

The Minister of Defense was informed on the missions performed by the Romanian troops in their area of responsibility, the cooperation with the other soldiers deployed in the region, and the living conditions in Camp Dracula, during the briefing made by Lieutenant Colonel George Constantin, the Battalion commander.

Mister Teodor Melescanu met and had talks with the Romanian Battalion soldiers and was interested about their problems and visited the area there are working.

At launch, minister Teodor Melescanu met in Camp Adder the British Colonel Edward Brown, commander of the West Forward Brigade and he was informed on the evolution of events in the area of responsibility and how the Romanians are fulfilling their missions.

At the end of the visit, the Minister of Defense had launch with the Romanian soldiers and knoked the traditional red boiled eggs with those celebrating the Holly Eastern in the theaters of operations
