The Romanian Defence Minister Teodor MELESCANU had official meetings with the US Ambassador Nicholas TAUBMAN and UK Ambassador Robin BARNETT in Bucharest, at the Romanian Ministry of Defence headquarters, on April 12 and 13.

Discussions focused on issues of mutual interest regarding bilateral US- and UK-Romanian cooperation, military cooperation, including the Strategic Partnership between Romania-USA and Romania-UK, the Romanian troop withdrawal from the theatres of operations.

Referring to this last issue, the minister Melescanu reiterated that the troops will be withdrawn in full compliance with the country's international commitments and on the basis of a calendar agreed with its allies.
