Accident of Romanian APC in Iraq

An amphibious armored personnel carrier of the Romanian 495th Infantry Battalion toppled during a patrol mission, in Dhi Qar region, 25 km NW of Tallil, Iraq, on April 14.

Four of the six Romanian soldiers in the vehicle were wounded in the accident: warrant officer Victor Cornel Giuseppi PETRILA, warrant officer Alexandru Toma PETRE, corporal Iacob Valentin MUSCA and Private Dan Daniel PORUMB.

A US Medical Evacuation Team arrived shortly at the accident site and provided first aid and took the wounded to the military hospital in Camp Adder, Tallil. Three of the four soldiers were subsequently transferred to the US Hospital Ballad, near Baghdad, for more investigations.

An investigation led by the Deputy Commander of the 495th Infantry Battalion has been opened to establish the exact circumstances the accident occurred.
