HUMVEE for the Carpathians' Hawks

Six combat vehicles HUMVEE were donated to the troops of the 812th Infantry Battalion Carpathians' Hawks, deployed in the theatre of operations in Afghanistan, on April 16, 2007.

These HUMVEE vehicles replaced the field Romanian vehicles ARO. They will be useful to the search missions, especially in the Afghan settlements wherein the amphibious armored carriers cannot get inside because of the narrow access roads.

In order to prepare a timely training of the Carpathians' Hawks for driving this kind of vehicles, the US Army initially offered the training vehicles and trainers.

HUMVEE has the capacity to provide the transportation of five soldiers combat equipped a last generation engine, automatic transmission and signal equipment compatible to those of Coalition partners. It is completely armored with thin steel boards.
