Admiral Gheorghe MARIN, Chief, Romanian General Staff introduced the lecture Strengthening the Cooperation and Security throughout the Wider Black Sea region, on the first day of the Conference on the Regional Cooperation and Security, hosted in Salonic, April 18, 2007.

The conference agenda includes talks pertaining to the regional cooperation, the improvement of the regional communication by setting up an appropriate mechanism in order to develop a regional crisis management.
The participants also approach issues regarding the military response to asymmetric threats, the cooperation aiming at the removal of disaster aftermath, as well as the military intelligence.

The tenth regional Chiefs of Staff from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, FYROM and Turkey discuss the opportunities for a better Balkan cooperation.

At the end of this meeting, the attending delegations will set the organizing terms for a future conference.
