Romania is prepared to assume its responsibility as the bridge and to support the initiative with a benefic impact on the mechanisms of inter-regional cooperation to connect for ever the Europe and the Middle East stated the Minister of Defense, Teodor Melescanu, today, May 4, in the Euro-Asian Economic Summit organized in Istanbul, Turkey.

Minister Melescanu also underlined that, having together Romania and Bulgaria as the members of the European Union, the Europe is now, more than ever, closer from institutional point of view to the Middle East region.

Minister of Defense, Teodor Melescanu participated between May 3 and 4, in the 10th Euro-Asian Economic Summit organized in Istanbul, Turkey and delivered a lecture on the Security in the Middle East Establishment of Regional Security Fundaments.

This year, the aim of the Summit were the issues on the energetic geography and global actors, the international economy and use of competitive global resources, the culture and tourism cooperation, the global weather modifications and the measures to be taken.

Friday, May 4 the Minister of Defense met his Turkish counterpart, Mr. Vecdi Gonul and they had talks, among others, on the military Romanian-Turkish cooperation.
