The Ministry of Defense will celebrate the Day of the Heroes by military and religious ceremonies in the memory of those who made the supreme sacrifice in wars, international missions and December 1989.

The commemoration will occur Thursday, May 17, in the localities the military units are deployed and are organized in cooperation with the local administration authorities, the National Office for the Cult of the Heroes, the National Association of War Veterans and the representatives of religious cults.

The lay of wreaths in Bucharest will occur at 10.00 a.m. at Filantropia Israeli Graveyard (B-dul Ion Mihalache) and at 12.00 a.m. at the Monument of the Unknown Soldier (Parcul Carol), Monument of the Second World War Heroes ( in front of the National University of Defense) Graveyard of Heroes in the Revolution (Calea Serban Voda), Graveyard of Heroes of the First and Second World Wars ( Ghencea Military Graveyard).

The Day of the Heroes was proclaimed as the national day of the Romanian people through the Law no. 379/ 2003 and this event celebration occurs, according to the Christian tradition in the Day of Ascension.
